CATISSA
Managing-owner

Hello, I am the very proud owner of Boubird Childcare. My name is Catissa and I have been working with children since I left school many many years ago. I gained a BA Honors in Early Education at Bath Spa university and I worked as an Early Years teacher in the South-west of England until I caught the 'travel bug.' I have been lucky enough to work all over the world as a private nanny and early years educator.

I first came to Tignes for a season of snowboarding in 2015, yikes! I quickly set up my nanny company after recognising a gap for highly qualified nannies. And I have been working with friends who have become colleagues and colleagues who have become friends ever since.

In 2019 I met my husband who grew up in Tignes. I gained a french step-daughter and in 2021 my son was born. Becoming a Mum gave me a lot of compassion for other parents and it felt like going full circle in my career. My son occasionally comes to work with me to meet and play with the children in our care.

During the Winter, I am out in the resort working with the children and nannies as much as possible. Because that is what I enjoy doing. I like organising group activities where all the children can meet and gain natural learning experiences. The rest of the year, I am recruiting a team of nannies, finding them the nicest accommodation and continuously reflecting on our policies, and learning about developing guidance in the childcare industry. In the Summer, I work in Summer camps for school aged children.

I love to be outside in the nature, teaching children about their environment and using the environment to teach the children. My favourite pedagogies include the Danish Forest School Approach, Montessori and Steiner.

I am very proud to announce that I have designed an Alpine nanny course which is CPD credited. So each of our nannies will recieve training at the start of the season and be awarded for their efforts. Although our nannies come with their own qualifications and experience, it is important that we recognise how to adapt our skills for working in Alpine conditions.
