Hello my name is Lucy and I am 21 years old, from South Africa.
I am currently working in a pre-school caring for children aged 0-4 years old. My duties include teaching the children, supporting their growth and development whilst working with their families. I follow health and safeguarding guidelines to ensure each child is safe and well. I supervise lunch and tea times and help the children get comfortable to sleep. I love planning fun and educational activities for the children, especially art based messy play.
I actually started working with children as a volunteer at the kindergarden of my church group during the weekends. Also volunteering as a 'buddy', helping younger children to learn English and read.
I work for a local agency babysitting children during the evenings and weekends. Quite often I take the children to and from school in my own car, prepare their meals and help them with their homework. I also care for some of the babies who attend the pre-school outside of work. I am confident supporting a baby's routine, I understand the weaning process and safe sleeping.
Having grown up on the edge of the Blyde River Canyon and Kruger National Park in South Africa, nature, wildlife and conservation have always been a center-point in my upbringing. I enjoy film photography, cooking, traveling, meeting new people and making art.
I am very excited to be working in the mountains, building snowmen, sledging and enjoying nature. This experience of working with different families from all over the world will be beneficial to my career.
